What does Jennifer in survivor and the WORM in her head have to do with mlm companies?
Let’s find out:
The Flesh Eating Worm in the Survivor competitor named Jennifer.
As I was researching even more mlm companies this evening, I got distracted by the Survivor show.
When I was younger I loved insects, so naturally, my ears perked up when I had heard that one of the contestants was seriously out of it because of something in her ear.
It is very strange to watch someone experience pain from something that seems so little. That being said, make no mistake that these flesh eating worms are real and truly scary.
If you have ever had an ear ache, you know how painful it is when something hurts or eats at your ear. (And that’s usually just tiny bacteria. Imagine a much larger organism like a worm (aka larvae) in your head and the damage that they can cause.
While the Survivors were more concerned about whether or not Jennifer would be able to help them in the upcoming Challenge, Jennifer’s head was actually in some great trouble.
I checked out these flesh eating worms and the scenario of having an insect or worm in the ear.
(BTW..they are NOT worms. They are larvae from the Order Diptera…..aka flies).
Check out what I found.
Here’s what I think Jennifer was suffering from: New World Army Screw Fly Larvae
How’s that for a name?
Here’s what happens:
The adult fly (Cochliomyia) is a member of the blowfly family. They enter into the host animal (such as a human ear) and lay their eggs.
The larvae develop and feed off of the flesh of their host organisms (in this case Jennifer).
They are so efficient at eating flesh that they can actually burrow into the host head upwards of 1cm in depth into the flesh.
(Ouch!)
What I find weird, is that if Jennifer had a fly lay eggs, it’s very likely that there is more than one larvae.
But if there is not, then there must have been some weird event where the larvae got into her ear without the adult fly being involved.
How mlm are like flesh eating larvae
So what in the world does this have to do with mlms?
(Mlm is short for multi level marketing. Find out more about what Mlms are here.)
Well, nothing really, but let me stretch it out for you because this is a mlm blog and I’m sure I can make it happen.
If you think about it, some mlms eat at your wallet, sanity and time.
Many people join mlm companies and they expect to take the “seed” of energy that they start with and eventually make it into a huge passive income.
What many people don’t realize is that the mlm is a lot like the flesh eating worm in Jen’s ear.
It starts out small and is hardly noticeable.
Then, it slowly starts to irritate you and eventually it can cripple you.
Your credit cards are maxed out and your bank account is crying before you even know what happened.
The difference between Jennifer’s ear and that crappy mlm company is that you can recover from a bleeding ear, but it is often hard to recover from a financial downfall. It’s certainly not as easy as pulling the larvae out of your ear and you suddenly feel better.
If you are failing at mlm, you will take a little while to recoup costs (if ever at all) when you quit putting money into that type of network marketing opportunity.
(Disclaimer: NOT ALL mlms are crappy. But a lot of the ones I have reviewed lately are seriously questionable. Sad but true.)

I have no idea what an mlm is, but thanks for identifying the larvae in Jens ear! It was bugging me (ha!) that I didn’t know, but after seeing your photos, I recall a close up of one of those huge flies, so, forshadowing.
NO problem! I’m glad you got some good info from my post! A mlm is also called multi level marketing. It’s an at home business option. Avon is probably the most recognized mlm to most people. But…one of my loves in life is insects….so I couldn’t help myself but tie the two together last night when I saw all that drama. I can’t imagine have a fly larvae eating away form inside your head!
