The Appointment Generator Review
I sat in on The Appointment Generator Webinar today.
I wasn’t expecting to do it.
But I did.
Somewhere along the line of all my research I ran into Josh Turner and his LinkedIn University stuff.
Low and behold, I had stumbled upon his most recent gig called The Appointment Generator.
Knowing I was going to be pitched something, I hopped on the webinar and tried to soak it all in.
[UPDATE: 2:21:2016 – Inspirational Leaders know one another. I just got off the phone with Dan Klein (Job Killing Coaching Program) and he gave Josh Turner some props. Know what else? He helped Josh with the business plan. Wanna know who I want to pursue? Job Killing. Josh has a great product, but I see it as a great supplement to Job Killing. Check out the ridiculous success already proven in the massive amounts of Job Killing Testimonials I have been hoarding for you all. ]
Here is what happened:
The Appointment Generator Review – Summary of the “Class”
If I were to get a test on The Appointment Generator Lessons, I would likely fail.
I hate failing, but I also hate boring.
It’s not that Josh Turner doesn’t have good stuff to share, it’s that he goes on some tangents and repeats things that really hold up my time.
Shame on me for wanting to control my time right?
To sum up the TWO hour webinar in a nutshell, here is what I learned:
- Josh Turner created LinkedIn University and The Appointment Generator Program that is opening to the public on Friday.
- The Appointment Generator Coaching Course comes with 10 full time coaches that you have access to.
- The Appointment Generator program works off of the 5 Pillars of Success that Josh Turner has explained in his Amazon Best Seller: “Booked”
- The Appointment Generator Coaching Course has helped countless people grow their leads and even comes with a guarantee that it will work, as long as you do.
- There is homework in The Appointment Generator Course.
- The Appointment Generator Course costs $1997.00
- Josh wants to make babies and has a dog named Oscar.
Ok now that I got that out of the way, let’s get more in depth so you can see what took two hours to explain.
If that sounds incredibly boring to you, then don’t let me stop you from checking out the opportunity that I have found that I believe is a much better option for learning how to generate leads online.

Now…back to the Josh Turner Webinar….
The Appointment Generator Review – Pillars of Success
When I first started listening to the webinar, led by Josh Turner about the Appointment Generator, I had NO idea it would take two hours.
I nearly glazed over and lost focus several times, but I was still able to pick out some gold nuggets that I’m going to share with you here in this Appointment Generator Review.
When the webinar started, I didn’t think to type everything down, but as it progressed, I realized that I could create more value out of my time by taking down notes of what was being discussed, so that I could later create this post.
To be completely honest, I don’t remember everything that happened in the beginning.
I got a lot of talking in my head and there is one thing stands out: The discussion of the book called: BOOKED
It’s about getting leads to opt into your offer…I presume.
So, eventually Josh gets to talking about FIVE PILLARS OF SUCCESS, that he states has always worked out if you follow the plan.
The first of the 5 PIllars of Success is foundation. Here is what Josh is calling the foundation of this whole 5 pillar concept:
- The Foundation
- Where do your clients hang out?
- What do they care about?
- Stop talking about yourself.
He basically wants you to lay out a foundation of trust where you don’t talk about yourself (ironic…as you’ll see when you keep reading) and you infiltrate your prospects life.
Just consider it the “Undercover Ops” stage. (Hmmm….maybe I should write about that.)
Here are some of the other things that Josh suggests before he promotes his Appointment Generator Program in the webinar.
- Stand out as an Authority. (Stuff we know, but some of us have no idea how to do it.)
- How do you stand out among your competitors?
Is picking your nose a qualifier?
No…that probably won’t work.
Next point to be made….
How do you go from bottom feeding to Top Predator?
According to Josh, the Booked System will help you stand above the crowd as a leader in your space and help your prospects be more open to talking on the phone with you.
Provide Value.
Position yourself as a trusted person. (This sounds, to me, what I do already. I blab and try to be real. (I imagine most people do….) So positioning myself to be who I am shouldn’t be too hard right? You know..Hey! I’m Charissa…and I’m obsessed with learning about mlms. There, I said it. OBSESSED. )
He offers a simple explanation about success and becoming obsessed…..
“When you do this, others can’t catch up.”
So if you are productive constantly and you continue to push, all it takes is you pushing past the people who are “sitting down”. And as you continue, the new ones who are trying to do what you did will find it hard to catch up with you.
And that’s a good thing.
Here is what I thought and typed down while hearing Josh talk about people catching up to you or trying to being like you:
“Well, thank goodness for that because I don’t think the world could take another Charissa. Seriously…I would be jealous.”
But I get it. I, myself, am guilty of looking at those who are beating me and trying to learn to unravel their “secrets”.
(It’s fun. I’m in love with sleuthing….)
Back to Josh….
He stopped telling me about pillars and started talking about himself. (Huh? Did you see what he recommended early on?)
Here is some of his life story:
- He was working a crappy job initially.
- He sucked at the internet stuff. He sucked at getting clients. He sucked in social meda.
- He created an authority leadership platform and made a group of people who needed help with finances. A door opened up and he was then considered a top consultant in St. Loius.
- His position said he was an authority.
- People believed it.
And there you go.
You ever hear of baptism by fire?
Sounds like some serious forced growth to me!
I know the feeling.
You know what I’m talking about. There is a certain type of anxiety that crawls up on you when you realize that you created a ton of traffic and you have NO clue what to do with it?
Your inbox collects leads and you know it has a ability to make money, but it’s like potential energy….it only creates movement if you remove the blockage holding it up.
I want kinetic energy in my wallet.
How about you?
If there is one thing for sure, it’s that Josh wants more leadership oriented people joining his team.
He says it over and over again that you HAVE TO LEAD to get noticed.
Ok Josh.
I get it.
What is the second pillar?
The Appointment Generator Review – Losing it.
As far as the second pillar of success goes, I totally missed it. It was well into the webinar when I started to lose my focus…..
Here is the note I made myself about the second pillar:
(I never got pillar #2 because Josh got me off track. He talked about not talking about himself and then he goes on a long tangent about his dog.)
Eventually, I tuned backed when Josh told me that you shouldn’t talk about yourself when you are pitching people and buttering them up to buy your product.
I got it. As a matter of a fact, in case I’m not being clear people, here is the advice Josh gave multiple times…..
Josh Turner Advice: “STOP TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF!!!”
Ok Ok….I Got it.
I also was able to catch that Josh says it is ok to use curated content and save time.
Hmmm. Me likey.
Anything that saves me time is good.
I got excited for a moment and my wheels were beginning to spin, but that darned Josh and his Appointment Generator ……..
He went on and on…..
And then there was the blabbering.
I ALMOST turned the webinar off.
But I’m stubborn.
But…
Once he started talking about his dog Oscar my eyes glazed over and I was coming in and out of consciousness.
(Sorry Josh…but you just finished telling me not to talk about myself and now I know you want to have a baby and you have a dog named Oscar)
In and out of the webinar I would go, losing focus because I got bored of all the talk of his success followed by his justification that he wants you to know that he’s not full of it. (Josh….I didn’t think you were full of it ….which is why I enlisted in your webinar. I already believed you knew what you were talking about because of how well formed your funnel was to get me into the webinar in the first place….but you contradict yourself by telling us not to talk about ourselves and then you talk about yourself. Ps. – I know my grammar sucks…)
Needless to say, I was frustrated that he was confusing me. Then I heard that Linkedin prospects should be treated like old friends.
Ok. I get that. But wait…isn’t that what you teach in your LinkedIn University?
Is LinkedIn University and the new Appointment Generator program the same thing?
Why rebrand yourself if you already are doing so well with this process?
I’m curious.
(If you know the difference between LinkedIn University and The Appointment Generator program, please chime in with more information in the comments below)
[UPDATE: 2/25/2016 – I was able to catch more information from a Blab (really cool program) that Josh was having. (This dude is all over the place in a good way!) Basically Josh says that The Appointment Generator Coaching Program is different because it’s a whole system. The Linkedin University is solely focused on mastering how to use linked in whereas The Appointment Generator Course utilizes the Linkedin University concepts to a certain extent along with other tactics. In addition, you get a coach and they pretty much guarantee your success.]
Just when I started to think that things were getting back on track Josh started talking about mornings with coffee.
I don’t get it.
Don’t get me wrong.
I truly love the idea of just taking 30 minutes a day to get more clients, but…..how do you expect me to learn this system if the webinar isn’t grabbing my attention and taking WAY longer than 30 minutes a day.
“Awe, Screw it.” I thought.
I almost turned it off. But my need to write a good post about this webinar pushed me forward….
I started to look at the clock and wonder when the sales pitch would come.
I think I might have started to drool and my eyes may have glazed over a little bit….again.
…But then…I heard some things that caught my attention again….
Here is what I wrote:
Strategies to get more people.
(Excuse any messiness…this was being typed as I sat through the webinar.)
Ok..I’m tuning back in.
He’s on the Fourth Pillar (I think)
- Take the time to develop a relationship.
- Called the “multi – touch” campaign
- 4 to 7 message campaign
- Message 1 – Hey Thanks for connecting!
- Message 2 – Here’s a cool article (using someone else’s content)
- Message 3 – Offer Consultation and try to get them on a call.
- Message 4 – Follow up to see if you can get them on a call again.
- Develop a relationship.
- Each month this apparently adds 50 plus prospects and about 29% will get into the appointments. (174 per year)
- The Faster Strategy – “Group Welcome Message Strategy”
- Create a group. (Via Linkedin or Facebook)
- Linkedin can be automated. Thanks them for joining and offer them a complimentary strategy session.
- Facebook – You send them a manual message doing the same
- Facebook Friends Strategy
- It’s hard to find prospects
- So….Advice?
- Stalk them and Join their groups. (Marketing Groups….Prospect Groups)
- OR identify them in Linkedin and Find them in Facebook
- Create a group. (Via Linkedin or Facebook)
- Take Two Steps
- Send a Message: “Hey…I’m the founder of blah blah blah…maybe we can benefit from connecting! Thanks! I wanted to reach out to you!”
- Follow up with a friend request. (The door opens)
- Work them. Funnel Them. Get them on a Call.
Annnd….
He’s losing me again. He’s pausing to talk about time.
Gahhh.
Now he’s drinking water.
On average, 30 minutes a day will give you 15 people per month which is about 3 new clients.
Now, I’m an HOUR into the webinar.
I might start crying.
It’s not that he’s not giving me value…it’s just that he’s killing my time to create content…which I guess I don’t need.
AAAANND here comes the offers.
Oh wait, he’s finally getting to the email blueprint….Pillar 5.
Advice? –
- Layer 1 on 1 personalized messages. (Hey! Did you get my FB message?)
2.They look like emails you send to a friend.
- It’s not spam. You’re following up with a friend.
- Use email with the other campaigns. There are messages that ad value to their world.
The Appointment Generator Review – Cost?
Now…to the offers at the end of the Webinar….(that took over and hour)
First, you get lectured on commitment. How serious are you?
And Finally…The offer:
He guarantees results with his coaching and training program.
I’m impressed. It looks like a great deal and you can’t beat the guarantee! To be honest, if you have something valuable to sell, $1997 is really not that bad of a deal if the method works.
In addition he says that they have a calendar filled out with the tasks you need to do each day. I LOVE that. It’s something I actually struggle with.
In order for The Appointment Generator Program to work for you:
You have to have 4 things:
- You have to have something to sell
- You have to be a leader
- You have to desire more freedom
- You have to work.
He guarantees that you get 15 leads in the first month and after that 10 to 20 per month.
It’s $1997 to join.
And you can earn 30% commission on the referrals that you recommend to the program. (I actually find this a bit confusing considering all of the email drips and the webinars say that they will be closing the course soon. I’m starting to think that the time limit is not real and it’s more likely a tactic to create pressure for you to buy. It’s a good tactic, but I personally hate this type of approach. It’s a white lie. I’m not sure that’s what these guys are doing, but I see even the best sales men do it. Time is a great pressure to pursue people to buy and the best know it.)
44 lessons 5 modules
Dedicated Coach
Lifetime access
30 day test drive and they won’t let you fail.
And some free gifts like their live event and a Kindle Fire. (Personally, I’d rather have a discount than a free Kindle Fire that likely requires me to subscribed to some service to use it. Please correct me in the comments if I’m incorrect. I recall that they actually mentioned something about using it to help w/ the business and I remember thinking that would require a monthly cost. It’s likely that monthly fee goes into a residual income of one type or another for Josh too.)
The Appointment Generator Review – Verdict?
I think Josh Turner knows what he is doing. His methods make sense and I like his “old buddy, ole’ pal” approach.
The fact that the system provides you a calendar of tasks to do each day is something that a lot of other coaching programs lack.
Josh realized the need for this and seems to be slowly modeling his program after a more traditional education model where student are coached (aka taught) and given homework and assignments.
He’s tapping into our trained selves from having to undergo years of obedience and following instructions from grade school.
He’s smart.
As far as joining him?
I didn’t, but I have considered it.
If I were you, I certainly would seriously consider this program under the following conditions:
- You have a business that needs leads
- You aren’t lazy and you’re committed (Or you pay a VA or someone else to do your work for you)
- You can afford it. (Or you can finance it so that you can get the leads in to afford it)
- You’re serious.
I think that pretty much covers it.
If you’re not already in a program that promises a way to get leads, then why not try The Appointment Generator?
Once you’re in and it’s working you can also get paid from pushing more people into the program (aka affiliate….which I am not).
But remember you have to have a need for leads.
Stuck on that?
No problem.
I happen to know a great program that specializes in helping you create a business that can thrive off of leads.
Not only that, you don’t have to join a mlm and you don’t need a mlm blog to do it.
There is NO
- Recruiting
- Upline
- Downline
- Home Parties
- Products piling up
You gain knowledge and skills that people pay a premium for.
