my mom mentioned na may 50% discount on property tax for Marikenos.  actually, I'm not sure kung for Marikenos or for senior citizens.  Could anybody confirm kung bakit may 50% and who is eligible ?

as per Ordinance No. 162, Series of 2010... all real property tax payers who will be paying their 2010 real property tax until June 30, 2010 will be given tax relief (discount) of 50%. this goes for those who are paying their tax every year.

pero wag naman malungkot yung may arrears kasi may ginagawa na ang City Council na bagong ordinance that would apply to them. pag pasado na at pirmado na ng Local Chief Executive at saka ko na lang ulit ipopost dito.

additional: 50% discount will be given to those who will pay for their 2010 account IN FULL.

paste ko lang po yung important sections na lang nung Ordinance No. 162, Series of 2009:

SECTION 1. The City Government of Marikina hereby grants fifty percent (50%) discount on the real property tax due for the current Calendar Year 2010.

SECTION 2. This special privilege for Calendar Year 2010 is herein granted subject to the following conditions:

(a)   The 50% discount shall be applied on the Total Gross Tax Due and shall be inclusive of the prompt payment discount of Ten percent (10%) and the additional MCF Privilege cardholder discount of Ten percent (10%).

(b)   The 50% discount is granted provided the tax is paid in full on or before June 30, 2010.

SECTION 3. Any real property tax for 2010 which has been paid in advance (or prior to January 1, 2010) by a property owner may, at the option of the taxpayer, be considered as tax credit to be applied to his next real property tax obligation, or shall be refunded to the property owner.
