during our christmas party, we have discussed MV's plan to adopt a park and it was agreed that we will start this baby in District 1....

This morning, I had a chance to discuss this idea with Councilor Ponchie Santos since he is the Chairman of the Committee on Parks Development and he said that we are very much welcome to adopt one.

He also promised to find one for us which would be very easy to manage...

So, guys if you are interested and want to commit yourself to this endeavor please sign up now. Let's try to contribute something to our beloved City of Marikina.

sangayon din ako sa adhikaing ito...pero gaya ni jard sabihan mo na lang ako rizza kung kelan ito sisimulan at maaasahan mo ang aking partisipasyon... kaya kailangang maiayos na agad ang palatuntunin nito ayon sa mungkahi ni Konsehal Ponchie... nang malaman naman natin kung pano tayo papasok...

hi, guys! I'm back with a few more details about this project. just a few minutes ago, I spoke with Engr. Maderal of the Parks and Recreation Office to ask if the "Adopt A Park" project is still existing.

I'm so glad that it still is. He said that we can choose the park that we want to maintain. They will develop it, plant the trees and plants, etc. and when everything is already in place... we'll take it from there.

We will maintain the landscape, the plants and trees... we need to cut the grass. Watering will be done by the Parks and Recreation Office as he told me.   If there's a lamp post in that park, we will have to coordinate with the Barangay if it's busted. So, I think it will be easy for us to maintain a park.

sure, jard no problem... I'll be coordinating with the new section head, kakapalit lang kasi kaya ayaw ko muna makipag coordinate before kasi ganon din ulit lang uli ang pakikipag usap.

I'll try to fit it in next week... medyo busy lang po.

Lerion is Marikina's official folk dance

Lerion is a festival dance adapted from the popular folk song, "Leron, Leron, Sinta". This is a favorite dance of the old people of Parang, Marikina.
The female wears balintawak style, tapis, soft panuelo around the neck, and chinelas as footwear. On the other hand, the male wears camisa de chino or barong tagalog, white trousers and chinelas as footwear.
