Continue the statement and shout it out loud...

No this is not a patriotic deed to do... but please just dont be hypocrites here.

Ill start.

I am proud of marikina because... it lifts up my ego when people smile to me saying "owww. taga marikina kaya - malinis dun di ba?" and other things alike..

I am proud of Marikina because, as compared to other cities and municipalities, Marikeños have already developed some sense of discipline.

Hi everyone,
Maybe I was suffering from cultural shock for being away too long but in September 2008 I went back to Marikina for the sole purpose of buying a retirement home. To my disappointment I found out that there are existing issues regarding a health issue in Marikina City. From what I understand, Mayor Marides Fernando is ultimately responsible for the ongoing unregulated increase of funeral chapels next to food companies, restaurants and in residential area. One of which was named Ka Andres Memorial chapel located smacked in the middle of a residential area. The air pollution is beyond description, I could hardly breathe, the odour was horrible, it led me to gag, it was overall disgusting and unlivable!  The residents of this area in Marikina City are exposed to lethal dosage of formaldehyde chemical in the air to which they breathe, blood borne pathogens agents drained directly in the ground that will surface when flooding happen and in this area of Marikina City, it floods when it rains! All these happening only a few minutes away from Marikina Hotel! When KA Andres Memorial Chapel was cremating bodies, there were little particles of ashes released in the air, much like in the movie about the holocaust. To top it all, squatters everywhere! I was so aghast by the experience that I could not wait to leave Marikina, but the realtor suggested that we stop at Goldilocks for lunch and then she was going to show me more properties. As I got out of his car I happened to look across the street where Goldilocks was located and what do I see, a funeral chapel next to a siopao factory! I respectfully declined the lunch offer and decided I was not going back to Marikina City to live anymore! It was a broken dream for me because of the lacking laws that should protect the health and safety of Marikina citizens that is not undertaken by the elected officials. I have more on this very serious health issues I discovered after extensive research but I shall wait for your feedback(s) about this.  Thanks.... so sad about this!

^ i understand your concern ms. carina but katipunan street is just one road compared to thousands that marikina have... please consider looking broader as such an issue cannot be just resolved (people have tried.. and tried... some fail.. some still trying).

Food for thought: Count the good points and the bad, then diss all you want.
No offense here - Im happy to hear your thoughts here

We will be happy to help you with your concern, just let us know...
We can even run a campaign for that, or a knowledge drive.. whatever it is we must not judge the whole city, just because of this issue. The city is great walk around(yes we are walkable) try to relive your memory of the place... im sure youll find nothing but a better change...

Hi JC,
Very kind of you, but when the metaphor of "David against Goliath" happened in this case, David lost big time in this case.

It is pretty difficult to do anything about this when the perpetrator are the city officials themselves. My friends and I tried going to the media, Channe7,  The Imbestigador, who supposedly do not run away nor coward against anyone. Shamefully, after they after investigated this situation, decided that there indeed were violations, ran the opposite way with their tails tucked between their legs and did not air the infractions.

We, the residents, appeal to the PGH Health Officials and even they found violations and then did not do anything! They even gave the Mayor an endorsement for an award she was going after for the World Health Organization! I found her actions contrary since she cannot even clean her own backyard and she wants an award from the World Health Organization, operative word, health! I do really appreciate your kindness and desire to help, just like native Marikenio, kind, and always trying to help, but going against Goliath was a futile action by David. We are exhausted, we feel like caged animals breathing polluted air 24/7. If you want to know more, you can email confidentially and I will give you copies of every damning documentations we have. There is no where to turn to for help!
