MAGIC JACK - is a device that plugs into a USB port on the user's computer, and uses a standard RJ-11 phone jack into which any standard phone can be plugged. This allows the user to make phone calls to any phone in the U.S. and Canada for a fixed charge. Calls can be made to an international phone at low rates.

Would it not be expensive buying this device, wherein I can also used Skype or other software and just load credit instead?

Actually, it is not expensive buying this magic jack. you can for only 3,190.00 and you will just pay it for  one time and more bills or charges that you will get. all you have to do is plug it in to your computers laptops or netbooks and then you can call your loved ones from US and Canada.
