WHAT’S A WEEKEND WARRIOR?
WIKIPEDIA.ORG lists a lot of definitions, but we’re sticking to the first one:
“People who do recreational activities (such as golfing, skiing, snowboarding, or mountain biking) solely on the weekends since they work Monday through Friday.”
Here’s another from Wiki,
“A group of people that have regular jobs during the week and take drugs on weekends.”
What the–?
Any how, the key idea here is the reality of work during weekdays. ‘Course we need jobs to feed ourselves some worthy food. Oh, but we also need to remain sane. All work and no play makes Juan and Juana rabid. SO! Weekends should be set aside for breaks from routine.
And we believe there’s no better way to spend this precious time, than going out there and seeing the world. Let go of your computer screens, people! See those postcard jpegs up close, for real!
With the average Weekend Warrior in mind, we bring you the best (and, yes, the occasional worst we would unluckily encounter) of the Philippine archipelago. From virginal isolated beaches to jam-packed camps on popular mountain summits. From marketplaces that reek with the bitterest body odor and the most hellish wet grime, to all the solemn shrines of historic and spiritual importance. See them here, in words and pictures.
Of course we’d like you to go there yourself.
But then, no thinking warrior ever goes to battle without the proper armor, and without newly buffed weapons.
We want you to be prepared.
Metaphors aside, more than just gushing about our target destinations with oohs and aahs, we’d be dispensing tips for the budget-conscious, reprimands for the irresponsible tourist (ahem! ), and some well-worn advice on what to wear, how to deal with locals, what to say (and how to say it)… things of these sorts.
We hope you find this blog ultimately helpful.
